On one side are some outspoken Midtown residents in the Midtown Ponce Security Alliance, who are understandably fed up with all manner of street crime in their neighborhoods but have focused on what they derisively dub "transvestitute" sex workers.

On the other side are a handful of transgender and queer activists who want to help the transgender prostitutes find legal employment, rather than simply harass them from one area to another.
