I'm studying the TaNaKh/Jewish Bible/Old Testament this semester at seminary, and I was struck by the casual way in which Rahab is referred to as a harlot in the book of Judges. It was so reminiscent of the ways even today when powerful women are demeaned (as if being a sex worker was demeaning). The professor had indicated she was just as likely to have been an innkeeper as a prostitute. So, I wrote this story to  offer a somewhat different possible background for this Biblical woman.
