Today was a typical Saturday for me, out to lunch with my spouse, with whom I'm still living for the time being, a movie, then we went to buy a car. Throughout the entire day, not a single misgendering, except from my spouse, who apologized about three times for doing it. I just smiled and thanked her for trying. She seemed to appreciate that.

At Car Max, we came in and the sales woman treated us as ladies. My spouse went to the bathroom and I explained to the sales woman that I am trans and have not yet done my legal document changes (soon... soon... :D) and her initial reaction was "Really?" I don't know if she was being polite or not, but I'll assume she meant it. She also was totally cool with it the rest of the afternoon as we shopped, test drove cars, and then sat down to buy the one I liked. She referred to me via female pronouns even though the driver's license and insurance info was right there as well. We just went on about the business of buying a car.

Later she took me back to the finance folks and we spent about 15 minutes there signing and initialing documents and the clerk there was totally cool with it as well, treated me wonderfully, and congratulated me on my new car.

By the way, I now own a cute 2013 bright red Ford Focus. :)

Awesome. We recent purchased one car (Fiat 500C, convertible) in late March right after I started full time and we leased another Vehicle (Honda CRV) last month. Both dealerships, (one in Brooklyn, NY and the other in Clifton, NJ) also had no problems with the male ID and insurance. I was gendered female without a hitch throughout the entire process. The finance guy at the Honda dealership was surprised as he didn't look at the gender on my driver's license. I told him that I just filed my name change. He said to me: "Yeah, that's an unfortunate name for a woman. If I were a woman and had that name, I would have changed it a while ago." He was shocked when I told him I was transgender.
