The therapist I was seeing to start is not a gender specialist, and she referred me to a gender specialist in Miami, which is a little far for me to go, especially since I rely on public transit.  Does anyone know of a decent gender specialist in Broward County, particularly in the western/central area?  The therapist also recomended one in Broward, but she is all the way on the coast, a 1.5+ hour bus ride for me.  And with my crazy work schedule, that is just too unfeasible for me.

Have you considered online therapy?  I don't live in FL, but I received my therapy online by a therapist in Miami (Dr. Carol Clark).

My psychologist is Dr. Marilyn Volker ~ she's absolutely wonderful, the only thing is that she doesn't take insurance but she can give you a claim to give to the insurance. She's a bit pricey, but she also works with what you can afford. She's been working with transgender people and speaking at all kinds of trans and trans-youth events from local to military events. She's actually quite famous.

Honestly, she's the only therapist i've ever had in my life that I felt I could trust. She has an office in Hollywood and in Coral Gables. I really really really recommend her.

Don't know if you already found a specialist, but in case you still havent, hope this helps.

Thanks Emily, I'll look into her.  I haven't seen a specialist yet, because I had some crazy things come up, but will be going hopefully by the end of summer to one.

I'm not sure how central you are but if you're somewhere near St Petersburg you can try Kathleen Farrell. She was my ex's and my current gender therapist and she is quite respectable in her abilities. I have my full confidence in her as a therapist and counselor.

Here is her website for further information:

edit: BLAH! Noticed just now you mentioned Broward county and had to look up exactly where it was. Too far for you as well.. sorry ^^
