Phew. What a day.And I havent actually posted on the forums of here , in ages.

So this morning I had one of my electrolysis clients in getting treated and she was to Go to Dr Barwin yesterday. She was told directly by Dr Barwin he is retiring and closing his offices in august of this year.
I've called and spoken to them and have confirmed. We have all been expecting it for years, he is after all quite elderly. It doesnt make it any easier though for his hundreds of patients, who now are left without hormone therapy care.
I am in the process of gathering resources and other avenues of care. I wont however be listing off doctors who will assist with hormone therapy on this thread or in this forum. I'm currently coordinating with others in the trans community to establish a list of possible resources.  We will discuss what e have been able to determine at the next Gender Quest meeting at Pink Triangle Services. That will be on june 9th at 7 pm. Unfortunately if we just start posting lists those few doctors would be innundated with requests they can possibly fill all of.
I have spent most of today speaking with doctors who have worked under Dr Barwin, other known endocrinologists, and community helth centers known for transcare. They all know of his impending retirement, but none have had time to consider how to absorb the hundreds of patients now left in the dark for hormone therapy.
We will all miss Dr Barwin. He was a good and caring doctor who trailblazed transgender care in the national capital region of Canada. Thousands have benefitted from his services and expertise  and dedication for many decades. There's been rumours for years he was gong to retire, but we all carried on and hoped it wouldnt be so. Unfortunately that time has come. I personally would like to wish him a long and happy retirement.
My last appointment with him I noticed just a bit of a limp. I asked, concerned about it, and he responded he had overdone a little during the morning 10 km run. The man amazes me and I wish him all the best.

Sadly...it's true.
I was heading to do blood work for Dr. brassard as my date nears, thought I'd drop in and say hi to Celia and Dr. Barwin. Celia said he is indeed retiring, his clinic shutting down. Celia is out of a job too. I was able to book a July sessions with Dr. Barwin so he could debrief me on hormone regiment following surgery.
I still remember first day I saw him: Dec 8, 2008 when I started HRT. He's such a nice man. Caring, compassionate and understanding.
I will miss him.
