first T appointment tomorrow nervous/excited

so I have my first T appointment tomorrow, to talk to doctor about T, do blood work, physical, whole nine yards, to start hrt. I'm kinda nervous and excited at the same time, I know I want T, but still a huge step, was just wondering if anyone else felt like this before their first appointment and how it went, the doctor I am going to see specializes in transgender patients and hrt, so they already know to call me Ryan (instead of legal name), also making her my primary care doctor, just seems surreal that this is actually about to begin

Good luck! I'm not there yet so can't offer experience. But it makes sense to be nervous before starting something big. Even if it's the right decision.

I think its pretty common for people to be nervous, I was! My doctors know nothing about trans health and we had to start at square one with me introducing the WPATH standards of care and everything. It's awesome you have a trans health professional handling your care. Good luck! Its OK to be nervous, and it's OK to not be nervous. Remember to ask any questions you have, and write them down if you need a reminder. Let us know how you make out.

Heck yeah. I don't know whether I was more anxious about starting T, or that the doc might find some medical thing and not want me to start. (I think the latter, actually, but starting T still felt like stepping off a cliff...)

Oh yeah, big time nervous. And it's fun Jessica said that about her vitals. My doctor, who specializes in treating folks in the trans community, commented that my blood pressure was high. I started to stress thinking this was going to be a problem for getting T and was about to explain how it's usually low and then she said that happened most of the time for first appointments. So, there's a lot of us out there getting the appointment jitters.

I may have slept about 3 hours the night before the appt. maybe. I was terrified that the dr. Would find something and not write the script.

My blood pressure was insanely high.

I calmed down about 4 hours after I picked up the prescription.

I was crazy nervous the night before. Then, I went in and had to get my rx. They had me pick it up and bring it back. During that whole time I kept asking myself "are you sure?!"

After she showed me how to do my shot, gave m first shot I was on cloud 9. I got into the car and just started laughing. All the nervousness I had turned into pure, concentrated joy and I think I must laughed for twenty minutes. I was crying by the time I stopped. It's one of my best memories. Just typing this has me laughing.

I was terrified that I wouldn't get my T. I was dizzy once I realized that I would. All the tension left my body quite suddenly, and I could not stay upright.

I was also worried that the intake exam would involve areas of my body I'm not comfortable with. He didn't look at my lower half (whew!), but he poked my chest for some reason, and I nearly jumped out of my skin. At least he didn't do any more than that.

My BP was pretty high, but "that's normal," as many nurses will tell you.

So was mine, that first appointment, but, yeah, it's often just doctor's office nerves. I check mine at home fairly regularly (it's great since I started working out a lot), and my doc does still check it, but she writes down what I tell her it was the last time I checked it. And my "doctor's office" BP is now about 20 points lower than it was for that first time.

hey guys, thanks for the encouragement it meant a lot, so heres a little update:

my blood pressure they had to do twice lol first time I was tense and nervous, the nurse said its normal and everyone on their first visit gets like that
was there for like 3 hours, talking to doctor and stuff and doing blood work, apparently i'm pretty healthy

I was able to get my first T shot today lol which was exciting, I have to go back next week and they are going to teach me how to give myself the injection, but seemed pretty easy when the nurse did it today, so yeah i'm feeling pretty good and excited, haha got my first shot of T and just feeling good, the appointment went better than I expected

When I first start on Estrogen , (I  am a Male to Female Intersex Transsexual) I would not say I was nervous about starting. I would say I was anxietous to hurry up and start. So I went to this place called the LGBT Clinic and they did blood work and I came back a week later and I got my hormones, the first day on hormones was really amazing. Mine are in pill form tho.
