HRT and body skin.

I say body skin because the skin on our body is different from the skin on our face. Having said that; I'm curious if HRT smoothes out your skin over a long period of time. Now, when I say smoothes, I mean does it make it not so rigid.

Men have rigid and rough looking skin, almost sand-papery. I've noticed that the most noticeable skin details appear on a persons backside (upper and lower)... So I'm curious to know if HRT will change that rigidness over time. I mean I've noticed my arms and legs and face get smoother but haven't noticed much smoothening in much else, so I'm wondering if this is "as good as it gets" or will my skin continue to smooth out... I really hate the way my upper and lower back look.. It looks like it's made of carved stone.. And I've noticed in before and after pics that most girls get what I call a "porcelain ass" or the same porcelain look to their upper and lower back... I mean is this the hormones? Or am I just missing something to smooth out the rest of my body?

ikr!  I really hope it changes the body skin too.. while I have noticed my legs changing shape (much more girly-curvy), I still don't have smooth cisgirl legs.  I know I need to tan them up (still kinda winter-pale, I don't wear shorts), add some coloring will help a bit, and moisturize after shaving, but ugh, mine still look like a chicken I'm about to put in the soup pot!  *giggles*

To be honest... i'm having a bit of a freak out... I'm really hoping my skin will change because while my FRONT is smoother looking in every aspect... my back area (from my shoulders to my thighs) doesnt look it at all... and I use self-taning lotions from time to time or I will go to the beach and get naturally tan, and I always moisturize my body... I'm just scared that I'll be a girl with an unsightly back area... I don't want to have supermodel skin.. just average girl skin.. and from looking at my wife and other friends of mine (from all parts of the "beauty" spectrum") they all have this porcelain smooth skin and even if their body shape is normal or abnormal or whatever, they always have that non-rigid smoother-than-a-man type skin.. its one of the things i'm ridiculously self-conscious about.. .and if I can't achieve that, I'm probably gonna need therapy to get over it.

I'm there too hon..  just as with our breasts.. ciswoman take 5-7yrs to get their full development and don't have to overcome the Evil T like we do.  I bet skin is the same.  They have their entire life of E to make that smoother skin.  I've got the same.. little acne on my shoulders.. really hating it..    but we're just beginning, so I guess we have to just strap in and wait for the ride to come to a halt, keeping all hand and feet inside at all times..

I just feel like I'm the only one with MY kind of skin back there... I have a back and butt with a bunch of acne scars (pigmented ones) and rigid, rugged, roughness like some weathered ancient Greece statue.. ... I can't seem to find any solace..

When the time comes, you might consider (don't know if it works on body skin) a laser, or chemical peel (not like Nair!).. it's supposed to (I think) remove the upper(damaged) layers, revealing the newer, cleaner skin underneath.  Theyu do it for faces, but I don't know if it works for body skin.  If you have a laser or electrol place you go, you could ask.

And I just gotta ask, please forgive me if it's anything bad..  is that you in your avi?  You really are beautiful!  100% pass!!

I recently switched from oral/sublingual E to injectable E and almost instantly, my body skin all over became real soft (so soft the skin is even sometimes "slippery") and porcelain looking, translucent...my hair is also much softer and shines...I'm post-op, started hormones 10 yrs ago.

I've been on HRT for 2 1/2 years.  My skin is so much smoother and softer on the face and everywhere else, and my hair has become very fine. While I had an evening encounter with a guy who I liked... I actually spent a couple of minutes touching his back and face,and then my own and thinking about how rough his skin actually felt... then he distracted me fully again!

I couldn't actually tell you when it became this way, but recently I've been looking at myself properly and actually I realise I don't recognise myself, and my skin and complexion is one of those areas that seems amazing now.  Give your HRT time and hopefully in the not to distant future you'll be surprised too. (of course the cop out clause, YMMV).

Oh and ditto to Paula's comment.  You are stunning, absolute pass and at 3 months too, you're going to look amazing

  I was put back on the Spiro 1 month ago.  I was off of it for 6 months due to a different health problem.  During that time I was still on E.  That alone did not stop the rise of T in my system.  My skin got rougher with small acne on the forehead and a lot of the body hair grew back.  One month back on Spiro and the skin smoothed out and the acne disappeared in 2 1/2 weeks.  The androgen inhibitor is important.  I got comments from my family 4 weeks ago on the acne during Easter and the difference was noted by my same relatives last weekend at a graduation celebration we had.  They thought I looked better, even though I am still in pain from that other health problem.

IDK if it will fill up acne scars. My laser clinic did all sorts of laser treatments for veins and skin and stuff, so I assume it is treatable in some way or another. I'm sure it is all costly and painful, but that's the price of admission I suppose.

Thanks for the encouragement and compliment RachelH and I decided to make an appointment with my Endo to switch over to injectables (been seeing more and more people tell me that injectables are very effective for other reasons as well as skin changes, plus I feel like the pills are kind of having a very small effect on me, I don't know how to explain it, I just feel like I can handle a little bit more) as well as made an appointment with a dermatologist to see if I can't just get rid of this with a bit of prescription lotion or whatever

However I've decided that if it's bad enough that I need laser treatments, I'll probably just put it off for later since I plan on getting laser hair removal done on my face fairly soon... Gotta save up for that first lol people see my face more than they see the rest of my body
