Perhaps a non-medicine based approach might be safer, easier and cheaper.

I think someone people already suggested exercise and fresh air.  Sometimes stress can be relieved by outbursts of physical activity, running, sports, yoga, or even just plain exercise (I like pilates).

My other suggestion would be to try some meditation.   It's not as active as my previous suggestion, but it's a tried and true method for relieving stress.  Unfortunately it may take a while to master, so you may not notice any effects right away.  It really helps in the long term though.
