Hi Everyone,

I am new here, just joined today. I have a common query and am in need of advice from you gals. I am have chin reduction July 17 and have to choose either Dr.z or Dr. S. I have had consults with both. Dr.S. is how people describe him, however, I am more concerned about his skill than his personality. Dr.Z. also is as people described, and tried to push more work on me. I had ffs with Dr. O. in 2008 and have been happy with almost everything since (he destroyed my nose and have had much work to fix it). The thing is, is you read good and bad on both surgeons and I am left totally at a lose for what to do.

If anyone has any advice or thoughts it would be absolutely much appreciated.

Thank-you

Dr. S. quoted $9150 and will do the incision through the mouth (already have a scar there from previous surgery). Dr. Z. quoted $8000 and wants to do the incision under the jaw (not happy about that). Both include a chin reduction through burring and also muscle reduction on the chin as well to make it softer (which is the bigger issue).

Are you stuck between these two surgeons?  I consulted with Dr. O, Dr. Z , Dr. Bart, and ended up with Dr. C in Guadalajara... I'm delighted with the jaw/chin work he has done. I'm still swollen but I can see such a difference already.

If Dr. Z and Dr. S are your short list...  It's going to be a tough call but ultimately I don't like the idea of an external scar if it can be avoided... So I would say Dr. S in this case.  BUT if this is not your short list of surgeons you might want to have a look around still.

Hi, Thank-you for the response. It sort of was my short list, as I went to Dr. O. previously and did not have the best experience, rather unfortunate actually so won't go back to him. I'm hesitant to do anything in Mexico, it's enough to get me into the states; I live in Canada. Dr. S. and Dr.Z seem to be the most common which is why I went with them, but nothing is set in stone though so there is always the chance of another surgeon. I do have school mid-August so some time constraints however.

Thanks again for the response.

I'm so sorry to hear you had a bad experience with him :(  I always thought I had wanted to go to Dr. O... but he was never affordable to me.
Not trying to sell you on Cardenas but the care I received here in Mexico (I'm still here) has been equal to or greater than what I would expect to receive at home. Wishing you the best of luck in your 2nd surgery... I'm sorry you have to go through it again. -J
