Hello everyone,
I know you have to stay in Thailand for at least 30 days after surgery for recovery but how long should I take off from work? I work in an office environment and I sit down for 8 hours a day. I was thinking bed rest for 2 months? Does that sound like a reasonable amount of time?

Thanks!

I have a work certificate for 8 weeks - and seems about right from other trans friends who have been through. Some bounce back quicker - others longer. If you can ask for an adjustable desk where you can stand - in some countries it is law to have adjustable spaces for disability (back pain).

8 weeks off the job gets the major swelling down to a low roar.  Have a beach towel and a bath towel  at your desk that you can wad up in various ways to take pressure off of the really ouchy pressure spots as you are sitting, and then taking regular trips to get water from the water cooler (which you need to drink) to relax things will be OK unless real hell breaks loose. A friend of mine did use an ice bag on occasion even at her desk.  If you can arrange some Telecommute hours that you take at odd times, use them wisely.

that'd be nice, I have no such luck with that law here

7-8 weeks is enough, I was going to try 3 week originally, I don't know what I was thinking, I was back in the states after 22 or 14 days idr, but I was in no shape for work, my pcp gave me a note for 4 more weeks off and to my moms I went to recover further.
7 weeks at minimum I would say ;)

I had the standard penile inversion (easier recovery) and took four weeks off of work, and wished I'd taken at least 5. I think 2 months should be good enough, hopefully. You may not need bed rest; I know quite a few women who went to Thailand and were up and doing touristy stuff by the last week or so. :)
