My parents are still looking for therapists. But I don't want to keep going to therapists who are not educated. A couple of months ago my dad told me he found this website rcdallas.org. It's in Dallas Texas. Has anyone ever got counseling there? This is where I want to go next to receive therapy.

Try Psychology Today online. You can search by city and specialty. Good luck!  :)

Try www.wpath.org.  It is all licensed gender therapists and you just pick your State under "Find a Provider" and hit submit.  If there is not someone close on the list, call the closest therapist and ask them for a referral to someone who is a gender therapist, but is not a member of WPATH, but is still qualified.

As an aside, although there are no doubt a lot of good therapists on Psychology Today, there are a number who have transsexual listed as a specialty, but it isn't.  I have talked to a few who said they clicked gay/lesbian and transsexual was added by the site itself.  Just make sure you ask (on the phone) before you set the appointment, if they have experiennce in this area.

When you say educated, do you mean specifically with trans issues? I've only been to Resource Center for social events, but I do know of a couple counselors in the area- Felishia Porter and Renee Baker.

Be weird. Be random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you hide.

I tried going to Resource Center to get counseling, but whenever I tried (maybe they changed their system by now?), they said the counseling was only once a month, which means it would take forever to get anything done. I think this is because RC services are for low income individuals without insurance and the wait list is long.  If you have insurance or money I do not recommend them.

I have heard good things about Renee Baker. Another trick is if you are at a university usually there will be a psychologist you can see for free if money is an issue.

i used pyschologytoday.com and put in i think it was gender issues or something like that.  I also was recommended by a member of this site to the same therapist, so felt pretty good about it lol most therapists can help you though, even if they arent specialist, they do have some knowledge about transgender issues and they don't judge you
