Hi all,

So I finally got the call for my first Therapy session. They sounded good on the phone and seem to be experienced with transgender issues from what I could infer.

Anything I should expect from a first appointment? Any questions I should ask them to get a gauge on their experience and such. I've thought about transition, hrt, etc. Not sure if it's something to bring up in a first meeting. Bit nervous too. But it's something I need to pursue and explore. I can't keep lying to myself and burying things. Otherwise I'll end up with another major dysphoria attack like what happened recently. I'm open to transition, but not sure yet if it's right or not. I would probably want to try low dose HRT first to see how I feel. I know not the future and all that it entails. The destination can be important, but the journey more so. Hopefully my therapist can help me sort out things and explore.

Any tips and advice is appreciated.

Thank you,

~Kamyu

The first appointment will be pretty simple. They will ask stuff like why are you here, what problems you are dealing with, are you depressed, what can I do to help you, how can I help you, stuff like that. They will introduce themselves to you a bit and then ask about you and your history. Before you know it, it will be time to go lol...

I'm not sure if you are comfortable talking about things or not but I would say just relax. They are there to help you and they can only do that if you are bring honest with them and honest with yourself. It is private and confidential so there is no need to lie about anything.

Hope it goes alright for you!

Hi all,

So my first therapy appointment went really well. I was very pleased. My therapist was very nice and better yet was well versed in transgender issues. Pretty much the standard 1st meeting. Meet and greet. Why I was there, etc. They even brought up the topics of future along the lines of possibly going through HRT, Transition, SRS, etc. I was open and honest with them. I have another appointment with them in a couple weeks where we'll talk more and further explore my gender dysphoria. Overall I was very pleased with them.
