Well yesterday u had my 4 week check up down in London. As expected some nice black skin was cut out from the underside of the penis and I've been told to carry on with a dressing for about two weeks in the hopes that the bit that hasn't healed properly will heal by itself. Somewhere between my first consult and yesterday I decided that I definitely wasn't going for the "stand to pee" option so apparently I now have to empty a syringe of water through my penis every day. For the rest of my life. That one came as a bit of a shock as I thought the inner roll where they usually put the urethra would just heal together and the void would disappear. My arm has been unwrapped and I can now shower properly(which scares me, I'll be honest. What if the water on it hurts!!!) unless I'm going out I can now keep my arm uncovered and just put a light bandage or tubi grip over it when I'm out. So things are going well I just have to finish healing and look forward to the second stage whenever that may be

So you don't pee through the penis? How do you pee?

The same way as I've always done. I decided at 42 the risks that I feel are associated with the urethral hook up were ones I didn't want to take and that I was ok spending the next forty or so years of my life(hopefully) sitting down to pee

Are you able to get a urethral hook up at a later date if you wanted?

Not quite sure now. I originally told that I could have one at any point up to having the erectile device- after that you definitely can't. But yesterday a plastic rod was inserted into the penis then taken out and it was flushed through with warm water. By that time I had said I definitely wasn't having the hook up and was giving some syringes to come home with. I asked about the plastic rods and was told you only needed them if you were having the hook up. I presume the rods are used to keep the space properly open for later surgery. Whether they'd be able to open it up again later if I changed my min I don't know.

Glad things are healing up well.  At 4 weeks now, are you able to use your arm at all.  I am asking because I want to know if I will be able to go back to work after 4 weeks.  I don't have a physical job, just walk around a lot.

Thanks

I can do most things with my arm- I've been told not to go back to the gym for another two weeks and even then I can't lift weights but for normal everyday things I seem fine. I'm very conscious of things brushing against my arm but I guess that's natural and will wear off the more the skin grows over it.
