I've just filled out a campus housing questionnaire for an art school I'll be attending a summer program at in a few months and requested gender neutral housing! Of course, I'm not guaranteed to get it unless there are enough other people requesting it to fill a room, but still, they had a blank line to fill in your gender!
This is all very exciting, but this school isn't my first choice for college. I've found several art schools with gender neutral housing (or allow freshman to live off campus) that have caught my interest, but academically they're not really what I'm looking for and I don't know that I'm willing to compromise on academics because of the exorbitant amount of money college costs these days.
Does anyone else have any stories to share about navigating gender in college?
