If you are planning on having any type of surgery or just need money for X reason, Lending Club might be a solution for you. For those who don't know, LC is a peer to peer loan site. In other words, you can apply for a loan and real people like you and I will add funds into your account.

When I first heard about the site, I was very skeptical but I'm glad I decided to give it try. I applied for a personal loan of $15,000 last Saturday and by Monday, my loan request was funded at 100% by over 100 investors. At that point all I had to do was verify my information like bank, income, etc. The money was deposited in my bank account this morning.

To qualify, you do need to have at least a 640 credit score. It's a loan so obviously you'll need to pay it back but for those who are having a hard time saving up money and having a difficult time getting bank loans, this may be an option. The better your credit and/or income, the better your chances of being approved and the lower the interest rate will be. I honestly didn't think I would be approved.

Well, I hope this helps someone out there. If you do apply, good luck.

Glad it worked out for you.  I'm really struggling to see how I can afford any surgeries at the moment.

It's actually quite depressing because I know what difference they could make to my quality of life.

Guess I gotta keep saving and keep hoping I'll win the lottery
"What do you fear, lady?" he asked.
"A cage," she said. "To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire."

Good it worked out for you, I sadly don't have that good of a credit score, because I was really bad a few years ago.

Sometime soon, I think I might have that high of a score though.

It is very difficult to save up thousands and thousands of dollars but keep it up. Eventually you will get there. You just might have to make some sacrifices. Good luck.

Thanks. I hope you can fix your credit. My score was in the 400s a few years back and I did everything I could to repair it. You should check out creditboards.com. That site helped me a lot!

Wow this sounds like such a great idea. Though, I'm a bit skeptical. Do you just pay once a month? Kind of like a credit card?

Trust me, I was skeptical too. Yes, you pay once a month. You have to start paying the fixed amount agreed upon exactly one month after the date in which the money is deposited into your account.

What interest rate did you get, or was it variable with each contributor?  I used to fund people on prosper which started the peer to peer lending.  Some of the interest rates that people paid me were outrageous.  They proposed the rates though, I didn't, I assume this is the same?  Did you set the loan amount and interest rate you were willing to pay?
