I have one. Bought it back in October. It doesn't have enough of a concentrated wavelength to completely remove male facial hair, but it slows down the growth and thins it out a bit. Just don't use it above the cheek bones, and shield your eyes.
For body hair, it works. But not as fast as going to a dermatologist and having a "real" laser used. When I picked mine up I got a full box of cartridges as well, and I still have not used them all. Chest, belly, and arm hair are virtually non existent.
I stopped using it on my face, as I was afraid that it would lighten some of the hair there and make it necessary for those to be treated with electrolysis.
It's an IPL with a curiously powerful pulse. Your milage may vary as far as effectiveness, but it will take a lot longer than going to a professional. Also, don't forget that the hair follicles awaken in cycles, so it will take literally months of treatments before things stop "growing back".
A tip: keep an eyeglass lens cloth handy. If you smell burning hair wipe the lens to get the carbon off, otherwise it loses intensity.
