Curious question for all you ladies ~ if this applies to you: at what point in transition were  you able to rock a Maxi dress without looking blocky or like a stick?

I'm dyyyyyying for my hips to "show up" so i can start wearing maxi or long beach dresses :P Thought i'd ask if any of you already do it and pull it off well :D

i was in maxi dresses 2 years before i went FT last october.  i look more like an english oak than a stick in em(wide load), paired with a thin waterfall cardigan(damn these tattoos) or a jean jacket, i just go for it. i love em! and they hide a multitude of sins too :D

LMAO For no real reason; your detailed preference of tree-comparison made me giggle particularly loud.

ugh, i would love to just go for it, but I simply can't pull off a maxi dress or long beach skirt/dress without attracting too much unwanted attention -_- well... actually, i haven't tried on a maxi dress or beach dress since I started working out and losing weight so.... maybe i can? 0_o only time will tell... as I am hilariously broke  :icon_cry2: :icon_cry2: :icon_cry2:

im from UK size 18/20 in dresses etc and up to size 22 cos ive got wide shoulders. 5-10, 15 stone(ish), i make the uss nimitz look skinny. im like 2 london routemasters parked side by side. dresses are good to me right now. nosey round the sales, you must be able to find some at reduced $s somewhere. with your face and arms, i reckon they would suit you and you wouldnt look out of place. buy 1, i dare you  >:-)

I think i might buy one on my 10 month or 1 year mark ~ just because i don't want to risk wasting money lol... about a month and a half ago, i bought a few t-shirts and short shorts... now I can't wear them because they're too big lol I went down from size 14 to size 12 in one month, and then 12 to 10 in another month >_< I guess thats what I get for going full-time off the bat lol. anyone need some XL tees? hehehe

Come to think of it... I'm wearing my size 10 jeans now and... they feel loose... -_________- I just bought these T-T

Those are the ones i'm dying to wear, the above the knee maxis :3 I wear mini skirts all the time because its easy to hide a lack of curves with a mini skirt and top, but since a maxi dress is pretty much a body casing lol, it makes it more difficult.... maybe if I combine it with a jacket it would change the appearance  :o :o

I have a few maxi-dresses, all of them at least nodding towards an empire line which helps hide the shoulders a bit wider, hips a bit narrower than I would like thing. I also have a couple of longer stroppy dresses with a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. These are even better than the maxis for giving the appearance of the shape I would like rather than the one I have.

Though I am wondering if maxi-dress is one of those things that means different things depending on which side of the Atlantic you are on. Like chips (no, those are crisps, silly). Care to post a picture of what you have in mind?

Well that was fun! What's next?

The first dress I ever bought was a maxi. It was a size 22. I have always had a few of them since the start of my transition.  Iwas wearing one today and I bought another one last weekend. Thankfully I am now a UK size 14
