Hey y'all, I'm scheduled for top surgery with Dr. Rockmore in less than a month. I'll be getting the periareolar procedure. I'm pretty excited and REALLY nervous as I've never had surgery before. I'd like to know what any other guys have experienced during the healing process. I understand everyone is different, but I'm just trying to get a timeline scope in mind to better understand the average experience. I will be going to a concert with a friend who is leaving for a very long time three weeks after my surgery date.
I'm curious if you guys would think someone would be able to attend a concert three weeks after having it. Dr. Rockmore told me that most of his patients resume their normal activities after two weeks like going to school, work and driving. I'm pretty healthy, exercise regularly and eat healthy. Any scratches my cat gives me tend to heal within a few days and don't scar. The concert I'll be going to is a very laid back one, no extremely loud speakers and a huge crowd but acoustic instruments and a small amount of people. And I won't be dancing or anything of the sort just sitting in a chair enjoying the remaining time with my friend. So from experience for those of you who've had the peri, what was your healing like afterward and how'd y'all feel around the third week?
Also any "remedies" to promote healing - vitamins, foods anything of that nature?

All of your questions are really dependent on what your surgeon says, but I really don't see any reason why you couldn't attend the concert so long as you keep from getting bumped into. Personally I would have, even having had a DI surgery, but I don't know if I would have stayed awake through it all since I was sleeping and getting tired easily still at three weeks post op.

As for the remedies...ask your surgeon and double check all ingredients against the list they give you of things you can't take/eat prior to surgery (2 weeks prior I believe). I was given pre-op vitamins and supplements by my surgeon along with post op vitamins and supplements. Drink lots and lots of water. I cut out soda all together before surgery and only drank sweet tea occasionally along with my water in take.

I don't think you will have a hard time at the concert.  Now if you said you were were going to be in a mosh pit, I would suggest you skip it!

I went back to work after 2 weeks.  I wish I had waited for 3 and I have a desk job.

You will find extensive information on healing and recovery in the below thread:

I could have done a concert two weeks post-op (not the mosh pit!). Be careful re: getting bumped so I guess depends on the setting. I was kind of stir crazy by then. Might have liked a concert.

If Dr Rockmore doesn't recommend Arnica and Bromelian, those might be a good idea. They are herbs and useful for swelling and bruising. A very good diet, lots of fruits and veggies just a really good idea.
If you haven't done exercise to develop your abs it's a great idea. One month is plenty of time to gain a little strength there. You won't get six packs, but you'll be stronger to lift yourself up and move around. I really like reverse crunches as they don't put any strain on the neck like a lot of abs exercise does.
