So my mom has large breasts...

...and I'm wondering what this will mean for me.

So in an awkward but helpful conversation the other day, the topic of my mom's breasts came up (I haven't seen her since I was like, 4, so I wouldn't know) and my dad says she had abnormally large breasts. I'm assuming at least a D or up. Not too sure though. He said her back hurt when she walked.

So since he knows I'm trans, I told him later on how people on hormones tend to have a breast size one cup smaller than their closest female relative, and he told me that my back will still be hurting.

Does this mean I might have C's or D's? Is that "one cup size smaller than closest female relative" thing true?

Just wondering.

I've seen some people say its typically a full cup size smaller than the average women in your family. On the other hand I've seen plenty of posts where it was either way bigger or way smaller than the average. I think the answer is who knows?

yea, genetics plays a big part in it so from what i hear its generally one full cup smaller unless you hit the hormone lottery and actually get bigger sizes. i would also assume to how well your body reactions to the hormone treatment as well. i know my body wont react to well unless i do injections and get it directly into my blood stream so i might be an unfortunate case.

The one key difference is that (and sorry, I don't mean to be triggering here) your mother has gestated and given birth (to at least one child (any others?)). My sister has quite a large bosom but has had three children. My point being that the process of gestation/child bearing and breast feeding can be a significant factor in the breast size of cis women who are mothers because of the hormonal upheavals that go on in the whole natal period. I'm sure there are plenty of cis women with naturally huge breast who have never had a child, and vice versa flat chested cis mothers. I have no idea, but it might make more sense for the"one size smaller" guideline to include the caveat of "before bearing children/breast feeding".

Genetics from the father's side also come into play.

i have heard that if your breast feed more than your bottle feed, you tend to have much more heightened attributes as in girls get bigger breast and boys.....they get tall o: anyways, so i heard and i've read it somewhere. if i can pull it up, i will share my findings

If that's true my sister and I are glad our mother didn't breast feed us, I'm tall enough already and I'm sure my sister feels her more than ample bosom is large enough.

tall as in the downstairs area. the myths about the shoe size arent really proven to be true o: due to circumstances i would rather not of said that but due to the natural of this topic, i thought it best to bring it in but yet not disclose any details unless otherwise needed to clarify. wow, i sounded smart there for a second. *shivers*

My mom has large breasts too, but she had me and my sister, so yeah since she was pregnant I guess that's why they got big, while my sister has a normal B cup so I guess that's what I would get when I start

I am an only child and my mom didn't like breast feeding so I don't think either of those factors came into play. She didn't have any children before me, and if she did afterwards, it really doesn't matter because neither myself nor my dad have seen her since like, 2001 or 2002.

It's also my understanding that they weren't as sexually active during and after her pregnancy as they were beforehand.

It's also worth noting that my face and hair are more like my mother's, as well as my legs, but my chest and stomach are more like my father's, according to him. I'm 5'11", and my mother is 5'10" while my father is 5'8". My height comes from her side of the family. My hands are like my dad's and I'm not really sure about my feet but that really doesn't matter, they're like a size 12 or something and since my dad is like a size 8 then I'm assuming my mother's quite large in that respect too.

Does this body thing have anything to do with my future breasts?

your one lucky person lol. the only thing i got and kept even after starting puberty is curves, a medium butt and legs. as far as i can tell once the fat cells redistribute, you'd gain the body features of a regular female. just bone structure wont change

I'll be transitioning at 18, does that make me even luckier in terms of how drastic the changes will be?

Honestly its really tough to predict breast growth. Boobs do what they want, they're so random when it comes to growth.

Personally, I think the cup size thing is a myth. I've known dozens and dozens of trans women who reported breast sizes all over the map. Genetics do play a part, but it's a question of *whose* genetics (my mother is very small in the bosom, my sister and I are considerably more busty, but we have a paternal grandmother with big boobs) and just like with cis girls, you never know until you try. :)

It's also worth bearing in mind that the way bras are sized means that as band size increases, cup size decreases - a 36C and a 38B are the same cup *volume* - and when you consider that 36C is widely considered to be the national average bra size for American women and that trans women tend to be slightly larger across the rib cage than their cis counterparts, it's also possible that someone with the same actual breast SIZE will be "one cup size smaller" if her band size is a little bigger. (So a hypothetical mother's a 36 and C-cup, but her trans daughter is a 38 and therefore a B cup.)

(I transitioned at 32 and am 42DDD and still growing. Ack.)
