Television taught 19-year-old Thomas Gendzwill of Saskatoon about the aspects of life his high school failed to mention.

He remembers watching 1 Girl 5 Gays on MTV Canada – a show that speaks frankly about homosexual issues – after he came out as bisexual at 14 and realizing how his education was letting him down.

"I talk to some older gay men who are in their late 20s and they talk about Queer As Folk," said Gendzwill, who graduated last year. "1 Girl 5 Gays was my Queer As Folk."
