Artist Coco Layne's new photography series looks at how changing basic things about your appearance can completely alter the way people perceive you.

The photography series "Warpaint" features Coco manipulating her appearance to see how it affects her identity, perception, queer visibility and her hire-ability.

Extreme changes in her appearance changed the way employers saw her when she was applying for jobs. Coco says that presenting herself as a "more conservative, feminine candidate" helped her secure a job at a women's retailer.
