I'll be taking T injections near the end of this year and I'm a little worried about my height. I'm currently 5'5 and I don't expect to grow anymore even though I've read some stories from other FTMs that say they've grown an inch. I don't know, my height is making me a bit dysphoric due to the average male in America being 5'9. Is 5'5 really that short? Is height going to be a problem for me when finding romance?

height usually comes from the father. reason why males are usually taller is the flood of T as well as if the father is tall, they tend to hit that height or a little under. the average age a female stops growing is 21 and the average age for a male is 25 but again, this depends on genetics for some hit their max height early.

honestly, height doesn't matter. i think it just makes trans men feel more dysphoric because usually cis gender men are taller. however, not all cis gender men are and the sooner you realize that and realize it hasn't screwed with their love life, the better off you'll be. i'm only 5'1", 5'2" on a good day and i have had no issues finding a girlfriend. hell, my ex alone was 5'7"!! just be confident and you should be alright.

I have a FtM trans friend who is only 4'11" and yet is still completely passable and stealth with no problems whatsoever.

Frankly, height is way less of a big deal than everyone makes it out to be.

You'll be fine. One of my best friends is shorter than you and he's had no problem with the ladies. It's all attitude and personality.

I'm 6ft2 so I tower over most men and women, it's kind of odd being a toweringly tall woman but it comes in handy :) love who you are and enjoy life. Height has never stopped my friend from living life to the fullest... apart from getting something from the top shelf

One of my friends is 5'6 and he no trouble with men or women. Well, aside from being extremely monogamous and having a lot of people interested in him.

Nah, I am 5'4" and honestly no one thinks anything of it. I used to make self-deprecating jokes about my height and people just thought it was weird that I thought about it. I do remember being in the airport once and hearing these two girls talk about stuff, and they go "I would never date a short guy, like under 5'10", ewwwwwww. Well, it depends what kind of car he drives." I just shook my head because I had been listening to a lot of their conversation and it was all about shallow and stupid stuff, which told me to consider the source. They didn't want a man, they wanted a wallet. Most women (and I guess men too) don't care and are not nearly that shallow. Especially since most women are 5'4" or less, on average - the guy is still going to be a decent size next to them. If they like someone they're not going to reject them based on height.

You could wear 2" elevator shoes. It would be a minor enough difference that no one would notice, even if they looked inside your shoes, but you might feel better. 5'5" really isn't short though. If you bulk up, you will look much bigger than you really are. I'm around 5'6"/5'7" and everyone assumes I'm significantly taller because I'm husky and have strong energy.

I agree with everyone. I'm 5'5 and really never found that limiting at all living as a boy or girl! Proportions are way more important for either gender than height.  :)

I'm around 164cm according to home measuring which might be a bit inaccurate. I am generally shorter than most men around here but it's not a huge difference - counting out some who tower over me - and honestly I prefer to be this height compared to something like 180cm.

Besides, I'm not small, I'm travel-size. ;D

Height for me is a big deal and makes me very dysphoric sometimes :embarrassed:
I'm 5'3 (161cm in metric) I think I just stopped to grow, it's sad to see most cis guys taller than me and that helps to make me look like a kid. But I can't expect much since my dad is short and I'm tall like him :(
What does my gender identity has to do with my pizza order?

I'm only 5'1" and I used to be EXTREMELY dysphoric about my height. I started to look around though and every once in a while saw guys my height and they all definitely looked like guys, their height didn't do anything about that. I've realised now that I'm gonna have to deal with people thinking I'm 12 with my height + my young face, (or assume I'm a girl if they know my age) but once I've been on T a while and start to look like a guy who has actually gone through puberty, my height won't hinder my passing anymore. And as someone said, bulking up helps. At a theme park once I was in line behind a guy who was almost exactly my height but he was extremely fit, had that nice V shape going on, etc and I definitely didn't immediately notice he was short- tbh I was admiring his physic and was jealous of his tiny waist before I realised he was my height, and that's because I was right next to him that I even noticed that!

I'm 5'2 and my gf is 5'8 lol sucks sometimes, but height isn't that bad, I have cis gender male friends who are around 5'5, 5'6. I think you will be fine. I'm 23 so I'm pretty sure I am done growing, but your feet might get bigger from T, if that makes you feel any better lol

I'm 23 years old so I guess I'm done growing too. And I already have a bunch of male characteristics at the moment pre-T such as large feet, happy trail, lots of body hair on arms and legs, thick eyebrows and a slight mustache if I don't shave. I'll probably be a cuddle furry monster on T, haha. XD

Thanks guys. The reason I'm asking was that it came to mind and I remember a girl I liked pointed out to me that she wouldn't date one shorter than her and she's 5'8. So I was wondering if all girls have height as a dealbreaker or something.

Only the shallow ones.

Anyone who says "I would never date someone who [insert physical trait here]..." hasn't lived long enough.

Figures. I stopped liking her since she's pretty shallow due to saying not having male bits and being dark skinned were huge dealbreakers for her.

I'm about 5'2.5'' or 5'3'' on a good day and I used to feel extremely dysphoric about it, but every once in a while I see a man that's about my height and it makes me feel a little reassured about myself. Plenty of men are your height and I would even kill to be 5'5''. :)

Well I'm 5'4 but my mom says the reason I'm short is because my dad is only 5'7 or else I'd be taller cuz my mom is only 5'8. Yes to most women height is a big deal but thats because of image but it hasn't stopped me from getting girls to like me. I wouldn't nesscarily consider it shallow for a women to not date a guy shorter than her, Its called preference I wouldn't date a girl talller than me, same height or shorter but that's just my preference. But yes most women like guys atleast taller than them don't take it personal though. An you said another reason is because your dark same thing I have a preference for short light skin girls or white girls can't really get mad at that also the male gnitalia thing study human sexuality an you see how close are bodies actually are male and female are not that different.

The dark skin was in reference to my friend, who also likes her. I'm quite light skinned!
