So i ce out to my stepmother not long ago. My stepsistet is a doctor and gay. She came out 7 years ago. My stepmom asked if she could tell her and i said yes. So they both tried to prepare my dad for the shock(i dont know how by the way) she said his views on LGBT have changed for the better. So im coming out to my dad this weekend which happens to be his Bday.

Any thoughts?

Well, he will be surprised, but if he has been paying attention he will know that something is up.   Hope for the best, plan for the worst.  What's the worst?  Sadness? Anger?  What's the best?  Acceptance?  Support?  I'll say a little prayer for the latter :)

By the way, you can personal message any of us now.  Don't be shy, this is a support site and we are all here for you.  Finally I post a lot from my phone, and I hate autocorrect!  But I use it all the time, allowances are made

Peace

don't tell it during his bday D; it's supposed to be his day kind of (I mean he's probably older and doesn't care, but he'd rather have an eventless day and relax I guess), just tell him another time so that he can enjoy his day without too mush shock

Well sweetie if he looks at you and doesn't see a girl, he's not paying attention, but Emily has a point his birthday is about him not you.  What would be respectful and loving?

Sorry guys been a while but I waited till after his bday . He didn't know what gender dysphoria was  I thought he did when iI told him. Apparently I didn't explain it well enough because he asked my stepmother later that night in bed and she dropped the bomb on him. She told him flat out I'm on hormones and I'm going to be a full girl in under q year. He ssaid he loved me no matter what and that id always be his son regardless of wwhat'sbetween my legs. So hhe's not jumping for joy but at least he doesn't hate me. Its all I could of asked for.

Congratulations!  You have taken a big hard step and the results were better than you could have hoped for.  That is very cool, I think that you can expect more conversations that may be uncomfortable and awkward, it kinda goes with the territory.  Still you Rock kiddo!  Don't forget that you have friends and support here anytime you need it.

Love Ya,
Julie

I am glad that telling him went ok. It will take time for him to adjust. Be patient and don't fear that awkwardness or misunderstandings that happen early on will always remain.

And that's a great picture of you
