Fun post! Need help planning road trip. <3

Hi,

So I'm new to this site but everyone seems so helpful so I thought to make a post!

I'm a junior at college in California but I'm home in Minnesota for the summer. My family has no idea I'm transgender and I don't want them to know just yet. I'm going to be driving to college in about three months to California all by myself and so of course I want to do it as my real self.

I want to have as much fun as possible and do it all dressed up anyone have suggestions about what I should see? What would you wear if you were on a road trip?

This post is kinda random but I want others' input lol

I couldn't even begin to tell you what to stop and see. There are so many interesting things in this country. My best advice is take as much time as you can on the road and play it mostly by ear. The best part is experiencing all the different culture we have, not just going to the touristy places.

Last time I travelled cross country that wasn't just a "I have to get to a wedding 2000 miles away andcanttaketimeoff" kind of trip was when I moved to California. I did it on a motorcycle and took about 16 days to do it. My one rule was that I wouldn't take the Interstate. I stopped where ever I ended up each day. I have a lot of stories from that one trip.

For example, at the end of the trip I was sitting in a truck stop in New Mexico because there was a snowstorm on my planned route. So I was looking at the atlas trying to figure out how far south I'd have to detour (answer: FAR). I struck up a conversation with a Navy pilot at another table and he agreed to put my motorcycle in the back of his moving truck and drop me off in Los Angeles on his way to San Diego.

Washington, Colorado, the Grand Canyon, Vegas, Phoenix, drive the coast from Seattle on down... There's just too much to see. What interests you? Do you have GPS so you can hit out-of-the-way places? I agree with Jessica, stop at anything that catches your fancy and don't be in a hurry.

I've done too many road trips. Dress comfortably, don't get fancy. Pull over every few hours and get out of the car and walk around a bit. If you feel sleepy, don't push, get a room and sack out.
