Leap of faith... Hi I'm Vanessa, MTF.

About me-

I read Valk's (Melissa's) intro and was shocked that someone else had had similar experiances growing up.  My parents are very conservative and I grew up in a very conservative state and was never exposed to anything beyond the "average" gay or bi individual growing up.  Melissa's intro has given me the strength to come out of the shadows and quit lurking about the forums.

I wasn't as sure early on but by the time I was exposed to sexuality I began to wonder what it would be like to be a woman.  I had the silly sci-fi notions as well were through some complicated procedure I was made into a woman.  I had sucidal bouts and at times broke down balling because I didn't know if I was gay or what.  And while I feel confident in saying that I am straight, I am not narrow and am slowly opening my mind to other possibilities (my wife is bi and she opens my mind like no other).  I'm married and my wife and I have had a beautiful daughter but I still felt that there was a piece missing.  I enjoy sports and outdoor activities greatly.  I jump out of planes and play with guns for a living, but I have grown to accept that I want to be more femine and express a part of me that I have kept hiden and repressed.

My wonderful wife was the one who found this site for me and she has been so supportive over the past couple of weeks.  I trusted her with my secret and she opened the door into a new world.  She seems at times more excited about my change then I am lol.  I am excited to finally open up, and yet scared silly.  I hope to learn a lot here and make new friends.  Well there it is, I've lived my life not fitting in very well were ever I went.  Hopefully I can find a niche here.

Hi Vanessa,

  Welcome!!

It sounds like you have a ways to go in terms of exploring.  You've already gotten started and you're fortunate to have a wife who will allow you to share.  You should do well.

There are a lot of great people here and I know you will find that out for yourself soon enough.

Peace,

Hi Vanessa! ^_^

Yay! Congratulations, I'm really really happy that something I wrote encouraged someone else.  Your post just made me really happy, and I've been having a very bad day today.  So thank you SO much.

It's really funny, I'm in a long term relationship (6+ years) with someone named is Vanessa.  She's not as support as your wife sounds, but she's very understanding and caring.  I'm really glad you have someone like that in your life.

I'm still really new here, but we sound like we're at about the same stage in the whole grand scheme of things, if you need someone to talk to at anytime, please please don't hesitate to get a hold of me. ^_^

Hey there Vanessa,
First, welcome to Susan's, what a great site your wife found for you, lots of information no matter where you fall on the gender spectrum. I think it's great that your wife is supportive and even went as far as to point you in the right direction. You'll need some close friends to talk to as you start to question aspects of your gender you might not have really thought about before. Best of luck to you, oh, and don't worry about gender stereotypes like playing w/guns and sports, that doesn't have much to do with anything :) Meghan

Welcome and hello, Vanessa!

I'm happy to make your acquaintance!

I've had the opportunity to chat with your wife, Vik, and am pleased that you've decided to add your name to our membership too.  When I started reading posts here and on other sites I too was struck by the similarities between my life and those of other trans people's lives.  It helped me find out who I really am after so many years of self-deception and denial.

I hope we'll be seeing a lot more from you in the future!
