I have the same issue. I usually buy online, and wasn't exactly sure of my size. But I've known 10 is to big for me. I assumed I was probably 7, and I have about the sizing as you say, so perhaps I was correct, and might even be able to get 6.

You don't have to pass as a female in order to shop in the women's section. You can select your clothes there and try them on in the men's fitting room if you are unable to pass well enough to use the women's fitting room.

I was a size 4 with a 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips but now my size 4 jeans seem to tight around my butt and hips. Though, I haven't gained an inch anywhere. Now, I think I'm more a size 6. I prefer Euro styles though and am a 27 in those sizes. As in, 27 inch waist. I have to by 6 medium or short since I have a long torso. Ugh. I did find a good site with great advice on how to dress for that shape. Generally, you want to wear short tops and nothing long that draws attention to an already long torso. And I have been doing it and I feel like I look so much better. My fave pair of BDG jeans are a 6 but the butt ripped along the back pocket lol I wear all skinny jeans.

ok so I have no idea about my pants size for female pants. I have been buying tops and stuff online because I am far more comfortable buying stuff online at this point, and I can get some really good deals on ebay! The thing is that I can buy pants because I have no idea what size I am. In mens I wear 28-30 and my waist and hip measurements are 28-36. any advice? btw I am also pretty tall at 5'11

I wear a 30-32 in male pants so I'm around a 10-11 in women's clothing. My shoe size is 10-10.5 so I wear an 11-12 woman's (I just bought a really cute pair of sandals today, 11-12). I'm, 5'9" and 162 lbs (I plan on dropping about another 12 lbs).

I wore 32x34 men's Levi's and size 8 pants fit me perfectly, the size 10's are just a bit loose.

My spouse gave me a pair of $300 size 10 jeans that were too short for her so I made some super cute short cut offs out of them :) you should have heard her scream, lol

I need to buy some girly pants but I just know I'll go through an uber-feminine phase of dresses and skirts. After a life time stuck in pants I'm wanting to get out of them as much as possible.

Just go to a store and try them on. You'd be surprised how many guys wear girl jeans. I've been wearing girl jeans for years, way before I transitioned too. Not once was I questioned or given any kind of look.

I wear a 10 pretty much across the board, OldNavy requires a belt on the waist.  American Eagle fits like a glove enough that the people in the store went "WOW!"  I was at a LGBT thrift shop, donating my old male clothes.
Sorry got off topic I wear a mens 33" pant, that translates to pretty much a womens 10.
Shoe size is mens 8.5, and I wear depending on shoe a womens 10-11.
Yes gone are the days of just grabbing the right size and knowing it will fit.  Get used to spending that extra time trying clothes on and have fun with it.

I you're covered on basic size, so I'll mention length. Women's pants aren't sold by length numbers, of course. They are just regular, petite or tall. I'm 5' 11", but because I'm long waisted I wear regular length women's pants just fine. If your legs are longish you'll need to to with a tall size, but it would probably be best to try on some to check.

I am a 38 in male (Australia) and size 18 is comfy for me.

I found Target is my friend... I can self checkout.  No issues with stares!

Lucky your target has self checkout; mine doesn't.

I actually got the courage to go to a forever 21 the other day, I was even willing to use the fitting room if it wasn't crowded... Sadly all the fitting rooms were closed for renovation.

My waist is between a 26 and 27 inch, and they measure jeans sizes by waist circumference so I thought fitting would be easy.

I got a 27 and a 26 and they both sorta fit, but are still pretty loose everywhere. Including the waist. There is at least an inch extra on the 26 (before they start to stretch)
I thought skinny jeans were supposed to be tight,  and sized small...

I figure they'll eventually fit better as HRT adds some weight so it wasn't a complete waste. Plus they work as regylar jeans for now.

Darn!
I bought a little stretch and room in mine- I remembered minorqback's warning about her new butt ripping clothes.

Amber:

Lane Bryant has size charts for everything.
For pants
1. select bottoms
2. select tall maybe petite
3. this screen will give you the option to look up a size.

if you know your waist in inches it will be easy.

I cut up a pair of my old boy Levi's and made short cutoffs out of them, felt good to take scissors to those!

Women's Levi's 505 in size 10 long, they are low rise waist, love the way they fit :)

Dont under stand most sizes to be honest. I fit in size 3 assuming i can find one thats long... Or a size 5 (depending on the cut)

And im by no means small. (though people always tell me i have a female body type) idk.
