What should the LBGTQ Equality Anthem be?

Every big movement has an iconic song that unifies the movement and calls allies to join the fight. I often wonder what ours will be in the fight for LGBTQ Equality.
Honestly, I think that a lot of today's music and music videos are too hetero-normative and focus on oversexualizing women and promote only cisgender lifestyles. Think about Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and that horrible video... Lately, some companies have been "marketing to the LGBT community" with their commercials and products but it seems more of a marketing stunt.
I have thought through some songs I have heard recently and in the past but haven't been able to find many that I truly think will be a good Anthem.
I have had Ingrid Michaelson's newest single "Girls Chase Boys" stuck in my head for a long time. Her video for it is amazing-- a parody of a horrible video from the 80's which featured tightly clad women dancing behind a male singer. In Ingrid Michaelson's video, she features men in tighter close dancing in full make-up. I think it is definitely a step forward in regards to feminism as well as LGBTQ equality. It could even be an anthem.
What do you think? I would love to hear songs that you like and think are good songs for our movement

Jill F could you add a link to that Queen song? For some reason, I am trouble finding and would love to hear it!

Oh! I'm silly! Yeah, they definitely have some great songs that are very relatable if you break down the lyrics!

I've always thought Cindy Lauper's "True Colors".
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

They say the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train. I say, climb aboard!

Those are all great ideas too! Cyndi Lauper is awesome too because she has been involved in the movement and is such a public figure! Has anyone seen her new musical?

Despite it being overplayed "Let it Go" from frozen really seems to resonate with the whole trans* narrative. At least what I hear each time I listen to it.

Wow! I would have never thought of "Let it Go" but that is a good one. Reading into the lyrics, it has a great message, plus its pretty catchy too! It would be cool to create a video of all different types of people all singing that to relate it to our movement. Or even at a pride parade!

Only problem is, Disney owns it, don't they?

I'm sure the rights could be licensed.

Who knows maybe Disney would even license it for free to get the publicity.

Haha! Funny but perhaps not what we need. Do you guys think it should be an LGBTQ artist like maybe Adam Lambert, or could it be an ally like Ingrid Michaelson?
