Hi, as some of you know I've recently begun my transition journey. I haven't started HRT yet and have questions regarding my hair when I do.

My mother is of mixed heritage and my father is African-American. My Mother is fair complected and her hair is brown. The hair on my arms has always bleached blonde during the summer when I was younger and now it's a sandy blonde and is practically invisible against my skin. The hair on my head that appears as black is actually dark brown.

I have a friend who is Caucasian that transitioned and her black (or possibly dark brown hair) became a light brown/sandy blonde with HRT.

Does the same thing happen to African-Americans when we start HRT or is it more likely that my hair will retain it's naturally dark brown color?

I'm simply curious and excited either way at the hair color prospects as I plan to grow thin to medium thickness dreads.

Thank you for any insights you can provide.

Lots of love to all,

Angelia
