So august 20th I'm flying out to Michigan. This is my first time flying since starting T, so not really sure how to go about bringing needles and T onto the plane. Do I pack it in the luggage or a carry on? Should I grab a doctors note, so they don't think i'm carrying illegal steroids lol. I think i'm more worried about this than I need to be. Any one have experience with flying and T.

You will need to put at least the needles in your checked bag. I put both my syringes/needles and T in my checked bag to be safe. I put the T in the original package because there is a script sticker on the box.

Hi Ryan,

You can bring an unlimited number of unused syringes when accompanied by insulin or other injectable medication through TSA screening and onboard the aircraft. In fact, never place any medications that you cannot be without in a checked bag, it may not arrive with you at your destination!

If bringing used syringes onto the aircraft they must be in a sharps container.

As far as the medication, the pharmacy label with your name, dosing instructions, and the prescribing doctor's name that was attached to your medication when you picked up your prescription is sufficient evidence that the meds are legally yours.

If you have any questions ask me here or PM me.

Have a great trip!

What Lauren said.

Also, it is a good idea to take the T out of the conveyor before your carry-on goes into the XRay machine. There hasn't been enough studies done to know for sure that the process wouldn't affect your hormones. Once you take the T out (in its original container labeled with your name), pass it to the security folks and they'll screen it by hand and give it back to you.

If you're worried about the syringes, it is also a good idea to ask your doc for a note declaring that you need them for an injectable drug, this might speed up the process in case they don't know what to do with it. In case you look really different now compared to your old photos, also have your doctor mention that in the note, saying you're on HRT and that you might not match the picture on your ID.

I just flew last month and as long as you have your T clearly marked with your name and in the original bottle you are fine. I brought my T and used/unused needles on the plane in my carry on and no one even asked both times when it went through the scanner thing!

I think they aren't very interested in it. It's one of those we aren't looking for drugs thing. I'm not suggesting flying with marijuana or something, just I don't think that's their interest. The scanners are looking for weapons, not drugs.
