Hi Jaz,
Good luck and best wishes for February. Some surgeons seem to use a BMI of 28 as a target to aim for. Others not to care too much, but being overweight can slow your recovery down somewhat and possibly add to complications during surgery.
Probably something round 165 would be a good target to aim for.

165?

The last time I saw 165, my scale was broken! Gawd!
Seriously, though, the lower BMI the better. My surgeon, Dr. McGinn put a limit of 200 pounds on surgical candidates. I barely made it. Her reasoning is that body fat tears easily and is hard to suture, so creation of a realistic vulva and vaginal opening is more difficult.
Also the more in shape you are the better your recovery will be. Remember, this is major surgery, and it will affect you significantly.
So get to the gym and start eating healthy foods. It really is in your best interest.
Best of luck, Jaz! Keep us posted on your progress!
