"Anger is [an] energy"?

I'm not on HRT, but since deciding to be honest about who I really am I've experienced a real fall in the general anger and frustration that used to be my fairly constant companion.

This is all good, however I'm finding that my previous "need" to get out and run so's to try and run off that anger and to get the brain happy - well, it's no longer there to the same extent. I do need to exercise because, as a middle aged person with a nice sedentary job, there's a tendency to get a bit overweight.

I also worry that by going on HRT I'll be so blissed out I'll be munching on chocolate ( even more than now) and just floating past all the various healthy things I should be doing!

Does anyone have any similar experiences, or any thoughts on this?

I tend to chalk up my loss of overall anger to simply being more at peace with myself.

Anyone who quotes PiL's "Rise" has it going on as far as I'm concerned!

In my own experience, recognizing and coming to terms with who I am and the journey I needed to embark on certainly calmed the waters in my turbulent youth.  Forty years on I'm still delighted to be exactly who I am.

I'm happy about losing the anger, but I'm still wondering where to find the physical, sporting energy? Down the back of the couch perhaps?!

If anger's an energy I have enough to power the whole bloody west coast. I want the balance I hear HRT brings before I do something to myself. This is me on the ragged edge.

It's interesting that self acceptance has made a big difference to your emotional state. This is great news and bodes well for being on HRT should you take that route. You may find that other anger related coping mechanisms such as comfort eating might subdue too (did for me) and that might help weight wise too??

I too have found that coming to terms with myself has helped me mellow out even more than being a parent did (though to be honest, I've learned a ton of patience as a parent, more than I would've found on my own even with my brief time in the military). It just seems like accepting yourself for who you really are does a lot for the mental state. I'd love to see an unbiased study on how many people regardless of their birth/pre-op/post-op/HRT/mental gender have found tranquility through acceptance of themselves.
