So It's been about a full months since I told my surgeon to contact prior authorization for my hysterectomy and haven't heard back. He's been back from vacation two weeks already, and I really don't want to keep waiting on this guy honestly. The nurses were supposed to do it, but I have zero clue what they are doing.
I go to my GP on Wednesday and I'm just feeling so out of control anxious. I have to tell him about my binding pain, that has progressed up to my shoulders-but school is starting soon and I finally have all my recommendations. I fear he will tell me to stop binding when it isn't an option for school. Dealing with Medicaid in a red state is so hair pulling because of the vague 'medical necessity' of things. Right now there is nothing saying outright that they will not do it, but they say no to 'cosmetic' stuff. There's nothing I've read that specifies anything. I'm pulling out all the stops and bothering everyone I know for information here, but it's all confusing to them too since medicare doesn't deal with trans issues very often.
I spent all my surgery money on my family in a time of need now I have 1/5 probably of what I had last year. I'm trying to get a loan, but I was thinking at the very least I can ask my GP and see what medicaid says in the meantime. I'm feeling like dysphoria is ruining my life right now and I'm trying to focus on other stuff. I just can't feel confident and in control since pain and dysphoria go hand and hand literally right now.
So basically I'm asking
1. Has he been informed about my hysterectomy, should I seek out another doctor within the month If I contact my surgeon again and he still hasn't talked to the necessary people.
2. Does he think I can ask medicaid about top based on necessity. What can we do/say to my state-is he willing to try out asking with me.
3. Therapy referral
4. Pain Management until surgery
5. When I should change my insurance over to male after hysto
I do tend to downplay and freak out at the last moment about serious things like this, how can I follow through and actually get the things I need answered? I was thinking of writing it down on my clipboard and taking it with me. I don't want to sabotage myself. I'm with United Healthcare as my Hmo if that helps since they are the ones that deal with the actual authorization or information.
