Hello there. I passed very well until late last year, when I gained 40lbs (medication). I'm still trying to lose the weight, but it's getting to me that I don't pass much any longer. It makes me bitter. I'm genetically male, anyway, or at least male-leaning, so it gives me a five-year-old's style "life isn't fair!" feeling to barely pass at all.

Apart from losing weight and getting a haircut (both long overdue!), what could I do?

I'll get to the passing bit in a minute, but...

Holy ****, is that David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and T. Rex I see in the background? Dude, your taste in music kicks ***.

Okay. As far as the passing thing goes, it's hard to say because you pass pretty well in the face to me. This leads me to believe that the excess weight gain may have just plumped up unfortunate (IE: female) parts of your body. Beyond that... the hair, possibly? Not necessarily the style, but the dye. A lot of guys have issues with passing early on with dyed hair of any sort. If it's something you really dig, though, then screw it.
Sorry I don't really have more, but your musical predilections got me really stoked.

Thank you! Yes, it is. And I'm wearing a Lou Reed T-shirt. Music's what keeps me going through dysphoric days. My walls are covered in records and music posters. The hope that I might be a musician someday, after getting all the medical stuff done so I could feel comfortable on stage, maybe even learn to sing, motivates me to drag myself out of bed every day.

I'll get a full-body photo later. I'm still in bed (7am here). I started bleaching my hair some time in 2016 and my friends liked it so I stuck with it. My old dark brown hair did make me look very pale. I might stick with it. I have considered that the dyed hair makes me look a bit like a lesbian, but I'll probably keep it and just wait for T.

And, thanks again re: the music. It's so good to meet someone with a similar musical taste.

If you dont mind me asking what do you mean you are genetically male?

As far as passing Id have to say your face isnt as angular, but your hair looks good, you could pass well assuming all other masculine traits match up (like body)

Oh hey this thread is still around. If I get around to it I'll maybe look through the thread and offer advice.

I'm kind of curious how old I pass for though if anyone minds? I've been on Testosterone for 1 year 9 months. My height is roughly 5'10" if that helps at all. Cheers!

I was wondering if you guys think I would still pass without facial hair. I really want to shave because I think it looks bad, but at the same time I'm worried I won't pass if I do. What do you all think?

Every now and then I shave and afterwards I realize it was a mistake no matter how bad my beard looked at the time.

I agree with FTMax. I'd leave it if I were you and honestly, it doesn't look bad.

Honestly, I think the beard looks great. I wish I could grow something like that  :P
If you really do want to shave it though, I think you could definitely get away with it.

Seems to me your facial distribution is more male than female, there doesnt seem to be any fat on the upper cheek area like in women. So coupled with a deeper voice and the right presentation I doubt people wil misgender you.

If shaving is something you really want to do you should try it amd keep an open mind to how you look (it'll be different so dont let that part shock you into dismay), and if you really dont like it, it will grow back anyways

Just thought I'd dump my face here. Some of my family still registers me as female.. and maybe it is just because they grew up with me being female.. but it still gives me insecurities about myself.

and green27, the facial hair looks good dude. Maybe just try to "trim it" if you feel it starts to look scraggly or something?

Sir Real

Vincent J - You look a bit androgynous to me but if I were in a position on the street where I had to make a guess, from this pic I'd say you were a dude. In other words, I could easily see you passing perfectly as a guy although some people might be uncertain. Only thing I could say that might help would be to cut the hair around the ear so it's not being covered, as well as having a straight, short sideburn vs the longer one - just a more "stereotypically masculine" cut around that area. I wouldn't say it's a big deal either way, but just thought I'd mention it. I do like your hair btw, it looks fantastic.

Vincent, I think you look quite passable. If I saw you on the street I would not not gender you as female at all. Very handsome.

Vincent J, I would take you as male. As Asa Spades said making those minor changes in your hair would help confirm it for most people for sure.

Stirfried, I would put your age at 26-28. Green and lilred, you dudes totally pass. Vincent, if I saw you in public I would think you were a very pretty boy. But a boy. Like someone said maybe butch up the hair a little. Maybe use some self tanner or something. You have skin like my gf. You would look more manly if it wasn't so white and perfect. Not trying to be rude. Just giving you some advice. When I can post pictures I will put mine up here so you guys can rate me.
Peace out
