Medication for alopecia and thin hair

Hello together,

i dont have a real alopecia, but my hair is very thin and i guess most people have more hair on the head then me. My hair always was a problem. Its nearly unpossible to style it in any way. Its to thin and i need more volume. With androcur (CPA) and finasteride a recognized some new hair growing - especially on the hairline. So the question is also - is there new hair on the whole head? I see some short hair between the longer but that also could be the normal hairgrowth cycle.

What is the first choice in medication to get new hair growth and to increase the density on the head?

I used minoxidil for a few months even before starting HRT. I didn't really notice much, but it can take many months to work.
I then started HRT, and several months into HRT (E, spiro, finasteride) I noticed my hair seemed to be noticeably thicker. It's still not nearly as thick as I would like, but I hope it keeps regrowing.
I stopped minoxidil about a month ago (it was damaging to my hair), I haven't noticed any changes/losses in hair yet from that.

Looks really, really great ... maybe i will post a picture of my head later.

I used minoxidil for a while, but it contains some oily substances. So my hair was covered by this oil and ihad to wash it everytime before going out of home. Thats very inconvenient for a longtime use!

Edit: Here is a pic from my hair at the moment. No idea how it looked before HRT or before 1 year ...

The standard minoxidil stuff is oily, and I would only use it at night or on superlazy days. But the foam is not oily at all and only leaves a bit of stiffening of the hair behind, that's easily taken care of by combing/brushing.

Your hair looks pretty good, definitely starting from a better place than I did :)

Dutasteride has a is 55% reduction of scalp DHT, Finasteride is a 38% reduction of scalp DHT.

I use fin because my PA says I do not need dut because I have testosterone of 24 ng/dl and I am experiencing regrowth. I want to buy it but I can not get a script.

I use finasteride, minoxidil and I dermal roll with 1.5 mm needles 1 to 3 times a week. I am on Spiro and oral E. The oral E has SHBG which binds with the T as well. So I probably have very low free T.

I am recovering from my MPB. I would say I have good results but need a lot more dermal rolling and time. Also, I use the minoxidil twice daily.

According to one study I read, finasteride was able to reduce scalp DHT by up to 70% although another study obtained results that were less impressive and dutasteride, it was up to 80 % based on another study I came across. So, in some cases, it appears to be quite high.

Any further replies or advices?

I'm now on minoxidil (3-4 weeks) and finasterid 2mg. The only thing i notice is that i find more fallen out hair on my clothes and during washing it. Dont know, maybe its only a feeling and my personal view. Its very hard for me to have such hair problems. Dont know if it possible to get any new and regrowth directly on the head.

Finasteride is over 3 month now ... i didnt recognize any new hair growth. How long it will take normaly?

Some say it can take up to a year, maybe more? not sure...but 3 months is not a long time.

Ive to correct it - 4 month. okay, doesnt change anything on the facts. Ive to wait. Maybe for nothing, maybe it works.  :(

It sucks to wait...I know! but that's just how life is sometimes...and in the end, the wait might just be worthwhile ;)
