It's easy.  The hardest part was getting up the courage to make the appointment in the first place.

Your therapist will ease you in gently.  Paperwork first, finding a little more about why you're there.  That'll probably take up your entire first session.

The fun begins (and it is fun if you let it) in your second session.  If your therapist is experienced, he or she has seen and heard everything before.  The therapist will help you reach the answers you're looking for.

Enjoy it!

My first therapist appointment ever was just a few years ago. This pretty much sums up the first visit; a getting to know you session for you both.

Update: Had therapy today, First 35 min was paperwork then an hour of therapy. A lot of fun actually..  i was REALLY nervous. She was really impressed with the amount of knowledge that i knew and.... More or less said that i was an old soul in a new body. She believes ive been around the block a few times just because of how i presented myself.

it was quite nice to be honest.

She said that in 3 weeks she would find someone willing to start me on HRT (once i got blood work)

Issue there is, I have no insurance, unsure what the cost will be (Will take me longer then 3 weeks i can tell you that) to save up.

She seems very supportive of me going.
Which i like. I wanted someone that i could see with complications on the way, not someone who was going to roadblock me before i even began...

Now money.

Time for a third job again that goes directly to transition funds

Glad you found a therapist that you seem to have connected with. That truly is what we all seek.

Take things as you can with money, remember lots of time doctors that know you are paying out of pocket will give you a sliding scale.

Most of the HRT you should be able to get generic so that also will help.

How about the ACA?

So yes congrats on having such a great day. One day at a time is how we all did our journey.

I probably qualify for ACA so it is on my radar; I'm very excited about it and I am going to take it one step at a time money wise. But like everyone else I am impatient. I will figure it out as time comes.

Also sorry I am not to chatty, I browse these forums day in and out but find that I have little to say. It is funny how that takes in who I am in real life also (I'm usually the person who sits alone watching others, very quiet) haha.

Anyways. Thank you :D

I don't know about the health care systems in other countries but if you live in Britain I can't speak highly enough of the nhs. My doctor was really nice, understanding and referred me to a gender clinic. The hardest thing is stepping through the door but it is really worth doing.
