Well, I am booked in for a consultation to start getting some laser hair removal done, before I start on hormones. What I wanted to know, was when you first went to get laser hair removal done, did you go as female or male, what did you ask to get done, were there any awkward questions or situations? Part of me is wondering what the technician will say or think when I turn up in my work uniform looking male, but start taking my top off only to reveal a bra underneath.
When we look into a mirror, we see who we really are. But when we look into our minds, we see whoever we think we are.

What  parts of your body  do you want laser removal done on I would just focus on your face for now until you see how HRT FXU
just my thought and I'm sure a few other people will chime in with similar thoughts according to other post that I have read on this form

thankfully I'm pretty hairless to begin with so I'm only needing to get my face done.

They asked what it was for and I just casually stated the truth, I'm still living in man mode I guess but they were nice and didn't seem to care why I was doing what I was there to do.

Try and be relaxed and casual, if they ask say whatever you feel like saying, you're a paying customer so they should treat you just the same as anyone else.

My lazer tech gal told me quite a few men especially swimmers get laser hair removal done even though she knows who referred me and the gal who referred me is MTF

I only needed to get my face done, but I was completely open about being MTF, and it was never really an issue. After a few sessions had passed and the technician and I had gotten to know each other a little better, she asked me a few questions about it (how long I had been out for and stuff), but it was all very friendly, and I got the impression that she was pretty used to dealing with transgender customers already.

I would assume they have seen it all by now.... or know what to expect. I've only went for my face/neck, started pre-hormones. But when I told them my medication update the laser tech didn't so much as bat an eye. You really shouldn't worry, this is relatively normal for their line of work.

Hiya,

First of all, assumng that you are getting the hair removed from your face ask the technician if they are experienced in removing male hairs as it requires someone that understands the difference in male and female skin and male hair type. It is burried deeper and takes a lot more power to get them removed effectively. Forget any other part of your body for now, everyone sees the face and this is one of the biggest confidence boosters you can get once hair removal is done. No matter how awesome your cleavage is or how well you rock that dress and heels combo, a blue shadow on the face is a definite downer when it comes to 'passability'.  I turned up presenting female as I was living full time by then. If your technician is expecting an MTF to turn up, why dissapoint ? On the other hand, no offence, if you turn up presenting male and start to strip off to reveal female underwear, then they may think you are a bit nuts.

You could explain to them that you are beginning transition and in time will be presenting female. They would then expect the changes to take place, especially if you explain what is going to happen, and will not get a bit freaked out as time goes by.

They did not ask me any awkward questions, they wanted my money after all.

Make sure they know how to treat male skin/hair and it will be money well spent.

Hope that helps,

Nikki
