Please bear with me. I know I'm posting a lot but I just came out of the closet and much of this is still new to me. How do you come out to family you know won't accept you? I say I know because I do. Lets rewind to 2003 when I first came out to my family. My father was still alive back then and so I gathered him, my step mother, my sister and my brother in law together to inform them. It was a long conversation but the short version went like this.
Dad: You know if your mother were still alive she would never accept this. You know people are going to laugh at you and you deserve to be laughed at.
Step mom: That's not natural! (repeated over and over and over again)
Sister: If you ever tell my kids you will never see them again!
Brother in law: *sound of door slamming and car starting*
Now I'm out of the closet at home and since someone in the neighborhood works with my sister and brother in law it's only a matter of time before they find out I never gave up on transitioning and in fact have begun to do so. I would like to at least talk to my sister about it but I'm not sure how. Eleven years is a long time but maybe not long enough. Advice?
