Oregon Medicaid To Cover Gender Reassignment Surgery

PORTLAND — Oregon's Medicaid program will soon pay for gender reassignment surgery, hormone therapy and other treatments for transgender patients, becoming on Aug. 14 the third state joining the District of Columbia, California and Vermont to extend coverage transgender patients. A panel of health experts added the condition to the list of treatments covered by the Oregon Health Plan, the state's version of Medicaid, which provides publicly funded health coverage for nearly 1 million people.

I know its all a good thing that they will now pay and such but.

Who is going to perform these services and most off GCS?

I feel not a lot of thought has went into how any GD patient is going to work there way through the system in a healthy way?

Guess its about to be seen.

Come the next round of ACA sign ups and changes to be plenty in favor of the GD community.
