I recently started using this site for information on the trans community, but I've come across a sort of predicament lately. Because I am a teenager and do not have the means to purchase a binder, I was wondering if anyone knew other ways to hide and/or reduce the appearance of breasts without a binder or hormones. My chest size is fairly large, around a C cup, and it's making me extremely uncomfortable. If there is any way possible that I can do this, I would be extremely grateful for someone's advice.

Have you tried wearing a sports bra? I know it's probably not the ideal option but it would be an easy and safe way to flatten your chest as much as possible until you can get a binder. I'm the same size wearing a tight sports bra really helped my chest look smaller snd in some clothes almost completely flat.

Oh, I guess I never thought of it that way before. In terms of sports bras, do you suggest getting a smaller size than what I naturally wear, or a certain kind? Is there any particular brand that you have had the most success with?

The best brand I ever tried was Everlast. I can't remember what the actual model of the bra was but I know they still sell them online and at stores like Kmart which was were I got mine from. The other kind I like is Fruit of the Loom's "Tank Style" sports bra.

I usually stick with getting my regular size rather than going smaller just because the smaller sizes tend to get too tight under my arms. A sports bra won't bind nearly as tight as an actual binder though so it should be safe to go down a size. I would recommend keeping your cup size the same though otherwise your chest will have no where to go so the bra won't get you as smooth and flat as it could. I've tried it before and ended up falling out of the bra underneath which was really uncomfortable.

From my experience the spandex materials are the best. I try to stay away from the cotton bras since they tend to stretch out and don't seem to compress my chest as well.

Thank you so much, that's really helpful, and I'm appreciative of you helping me out. This will help make school a little better for me, considering it starts tomorrow.

Also maybe try wearing looser mens shirts. Find something with a logo that you like and people will likely think it's a fashion thing.

I wis I can do that at my school, but, unfortunately, I have to wear a regulated uniform that requires me to wear a polo from the school and skirt. I can wear pants, but that's been forbidden by my parents on multiple occasions because "They're not ready". Thank you, though, I'll try my best on the weekends.

a tiny bit a horribly bad advice inspired by a japanese comic:
get yourself a male uniform and wear it.
burn your skirts, just to be sure you can't wear them.

won't help your conflict with your parents, but... if you actually hate your uniform skirt, wouldn't it be really fun to try burning it?
if you don't want to burn it, donate it to someone who can't afford a new uniform.

you might also beg the principal to expel you, just so you can go to a public school?
maybe telling your parents first would be a good idea if you try getting expelled. just so they know why you're doing it, and that it's all their fault for not letting you be who you really are.

(these might be bad ideas though, i have no guarantee it will work, so it's best not to try)
