This article is over a year old, but I do remember it and the overall outcome. His actual results were within a range of what could be reasonably expected. His choice of euthanasia was in the long run based on rejection and self esteem that the surgery, even if it had become ideal, would not have cured and made whole. It is a lesson that GRS may lessen GD if we have reasonable expectations and otherwise reasonable views of ourselves as our corrected body, but will not heal or cure the deep-seated other issues of self this man had. As a post op myself, I am hundreds of times less likely to urge someone to go for surgery until ALL other issues have some resolution, or have a definite direction in place before GCS is done.
