Really.  They Suck.  If they were even an inch less thick, from the side, then I'd be golden... silver at least.  I really need to find a way to get them to flare more inward.  I can push them with my hands and they do go in a good bit.  Has anyone had any success with a corset or binding belts?  Or has anyone had anything more extreme done?  I know people will say I'm foolish for thinking so much into it, but I could use all the help I can get and they just bother the hell out of me.  My upper chest cavity is OK, but under my chest and downward they just stick out a little too much for comfort...

If hugs could fix this hon...

I have a big ribcage too- my trans fairy godmother pointed out it can be a great help in getting a big bust.  She was right.

Corset training needs a special corset fitted for you, don't try it with a regular corset no matter how desperate you feel, you can hurt yourself really badly.

Body... meet brain.  Now follow her lead and there will be no more trouble, you dig?

+1 for tight lace corseting. Its the answer for you I would say.

Ms Grace

You would probably only get success with a corset if you wore it every day for several years. Can your innards stand the strain? (Notably on the colon and lower back muscles.) You would probably do better to pad your hips and thighs out more.

Corsetry works! Wear it during the day and off at night. Make sure it is heavy duty and steel boned. You do not put it on and crank it down you simply snug it and tighten as results appear. Results will happen.  :)

Well, if I decide to transition it'll be about 3 years before I'm full-time... if I ever get to that point.  I'd totally be willing to tight lace to the fullest.  I'd wear one as long as I could bear it.  I'm pretty good at toughing things out, so I'd try doing 23/7 with a custom fit for about three years and then probably a few times a week or in my spare time for maintenance afterward.  I'm not terribly broad across.  It's the depth from the side that bothers me.  I mean, of course I'd like to make my rib cage a bit narrower and that's probably happen with the lower ribs at least, but do corsets bring in the ribs from the front inward in addition to bringing them in from the sides in?  It definitely is the ribs that start directly below my chest.  My upper chest is OK and looks alright with breast forms, so they'd be camouflaged, but it just makes the bottom ones more noticeable.  Thanks everyone...

Please don't break your ribs. You might pierce your lungs then die.
If you don't want to do corsetry , Look on the internet to see if there is a doctor friendly to TG's who might be able to do something about your ribs

If you wear them at night you will risk gastro-intestinal issue's. Most DO NOT wear them 23/7.  :)

lol, don't worry.  I don't want to break my own ribs.  I'm just really bummed about the shape...

I don't know about the ribs, but I heard that the Russian Barbie had her lower ribs removed, and even Amanda Lepore... but both of them are crazy with plastic surgery, and I would never do it neither advice that because it's too risky and ribs cover vital organs. If you are ok to changing your body with plastic surgery I think it's better to get implants for the butt and hips, to make your ribs, waist and shoulder appear smaller, but I wouldn't do that neither, especially if it is overseas.

I don't know about the corset training, how do you get one? I mean how do you go for the size? Does it have to be smaller than your natural one? If someone did it, where did you get yours? How does it work? D:

The rule of thumb is to get one 4 - 6" smaller than your current waist measurement.

So, is it easier to shape the ribs with less fat covering them?  Right now I think I'm about 160lbs (lost 5 since yesterday, no lie) and my waist is probably 31-32".  Last summer I was about 135ish and my waist was at 28" sometimes 29.  I'm headed down to being that thin again.  It'll be an incentive to stay at a lower weight for a while.  It's sort of the ribs above my waist and below my chest that are the problem though.

I went by the name of the thread.
I'm relieved that you aren't going to break your ribs.
I take it seriously because some think about taking their life.

Just reading the corset info and I too have a rib cage that protrudes below my breast (35") and I am 5ft 7ins and 135lbs. I have noticed that after 17 months on HRT that the fat and muscle around the rib cage is diminishing fast especiall the last month and my measurement reflect this. It is the only part of me that I am not happy about and I don't want big breasts and I'm hoping that with more muscle loss and fat distribution that this will become less visible. I don't know about corsets and I'm worried it may cause internal organ damage if worn too long. Keep us posted on the progress if you go this route.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

cutting off the lower ribs is something that even women will do to get that perfect waist.
just don't try to do it on your own. and do try a corset first, they feel pretty nice, and aren't too bad if you use them right and get enough exercise. they will also force you into a perfect posture.
