The Coming Out Continues

As I mentioned in an earlier post I came out to my mother Saturday night. She asked if she could tell her fiancee which I was hesitant about since he's a very hard-core right winger, Faux-news watcher, Birther type. I was amazed when she told me his first words were, "Well that's not his fault."

So it seems my soon to be step-father, Glenn Beck follower that he is, is firmly behind me.

I also told three of my oldest and closest friends today (one is going to tell his wife which I gave him permission to do) and all of them are 100% supportive. Everyone I have told so far has been wonderful and it's made this whole thing so much easier for me. I know I will run into less-than-pleasant people and will lose some friends but the strength my supporters have given me so far will see me through.

That's good, it is always good to have the people you love offering support, it makes life a lot easier.

Don't worry about the unpleasant people, do not listen to them and more important, don't let other people comments have a big impact on the way you feel.

What's the big surprise Wyneternight? Most of the right wingers are a live and let live type. The media don't portray them that way though. Everyone is an individual with certain rights. Don't fall into the same old rap that others fall into. Most "Faux-news: watcher are a lot more live and let live than what you think. I watch "faux news" just because they give equal time to both points of view. Everyone has opinions and even though I may not agree with certain opinions, it doesn't make them wrong. Now days it seems that New orgs are more opinion that fact so...

In my experiences the TP crowd have turned very anti-LGBT and he (fiancee) has made some comments that lead me to believe he thinks along those lines. I hope I'm wrong, living in Alaska as I do, not exactly a bastion of progressive thinking , but so far I haven't been proven wrong but once or twice so definitely in the minority.

In my experiences the TP crowd have turned very anti-LGBT and he (fiancee) has made some comments that lead me to believe he thinks along those lines. No Alaska is kind of up there. But I am from Arkansas, redneck capital of the US and even they are changing.

I heard one of my cousin's husbands talk about meeting an transwoman, his words a "Transwoman" in new Orleans so if the rednecks in Arkansas can change anyone can. Hell I got LG and B s all throughout my family and as far as I know I am the only T so I round it out whether they know it or not. When I was younger it wasn't tansmen or transwomen but the derogatory names we get called a lot of times.

You just have to take people on a one on one basis. One maybe open minded and another one closed minded butthole. BTW Hon, people talk BS all the time just to make themselves big in the eyes of their friends. It's just human nature and a lot of them don't really think that way.

Yeah, every little win counts. I really hope it goes just as good with your father, but if not at least you have the support of your mom and future step father.

I've lived in Alaska for much of my adult life, and even considering some of embarrassing things that are done by the people there (I'm thinking of your house representative for life) It is a pretty accepting laissez-faire bunch.  Being who you authentically are gets easier as the months pass.  Everything takes seemingly forever, but there is a land over the rainbow.

I think she started out by telling him that I'm IS (Klinefelter's) than told him, when he asked about testosterone therapy, that I'm trans and will instead be transitioning and have started HRT. His response to me being IS and trans was,"It's not his fault." Who said you can't teach a 76 year old former Marine new things!
