Not sure if this is exactly the right section or not...

I've been wearing binders for not long, got my first almost a week ago but recently I've been getting pain if I laugh at all and it's not when I'm binding.

Do you think it could be from binding and have any of you experienced this?

Whatever you do, make sure you aren't binding using Ace bandages. They are awful and compress on your lungs tighter and tighter..

But on topic, I haven't experienced this.. only once due to buying a binder smaller than my actual size in which made it painful to even try to take a deep breath. Maybe that's your problem? What size/model do you have and from what company? Perhaps that could be your problem. *shrug*

*Also, if it happens when you're not binding maybe taking a break from binding could help.. Wearing a binder for more than 8 hours isn't recommended since that could be dangerous and your lungs need to rest from that compression.

It could be from binding, it might not be.  We can't see you and we don't know what other symptoms you may or may not have.  If it's consistent, you need to see a doctor.

Also, have you read this?:

Be sure you aren't wearing a binder that's too small.  Some guys think that the smaller the binder is, the better is flattens - but that's not exactly true - not to mention it's dangerous.

Yeah, it's probably too small or maybe hitting you in a bad place if it's either rolling up or not full length (ie. tri top). Don't just keep binding and hope it will get better- since you just got it this week, it seems very likely this binder is the cause.

Be weird. Be random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you hide.

I'm not wearing too small of a binder, it's the exact right fitting size. It's an ultimate compression binder from underworks in the size small.

I'm starting to also think it could be from my other binder type top, it's more of a sports bra but works as a binder, also another one from underworks. I exercise in it, and I've getting the pain all around the front part of my ribs (where it would cover for the most part) so I'm starting to believe it could be that.

I had a nagging cough for months before my surgery due to binding and I had a lot of pain in my ribs from the years of abusing them. I never had pain specifically when I laughed though. I noticed the cough and pain decreased when I switched binders. Not everyone has the same rib shape and what works for some doesn't work for others.

I would always advise against working out in a binder if you can avoid it.
