SEATTLE: FIRST CITY TO DECLARE A "TRANS AWARENESS WEEK"


the first-ever week of Trans Awareness cultural festivities and events held in Seattle beginning this year 2007.

The events of Trans Awareness Week will continue to evolve but so far they will include:

Photo Gallery TRANSFIGURATIONS by award-winning photographer Jana Marcus.  Brought to us by grant writer Kory M local to Seattle, awardee of the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs smART Grant.  Location: Kaladi Brothers, 511 E Pike St, 98122

Trans Awareness Week Celebration Sponsored by Trans Awareness Project (TAPS) and Gender Odyssey.   

Saturday evening 8pm at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center   

Community Leadership Awards presented this year by the legend-with-a-heart-of-gold, Lucas, from Vancouver, BC 

Art show "UNBOUND" curated by Flynn, art coordinator of Gender Odyssey

A family-oriented Trans-focused film - Critically acclaimed "Red Without Blue" - will be showing as part of Translations: Seattle's Transgender Film Festival (co-sponsored by Gender Odyssey and Three Dollar Bill Cinema)

"Flash-Connections" - a sort of flash-meeting - without the pressure of it being a dating game! A fast FUN way to meet ALOT of people - and then go out afterwards with a group!  Hosts: Terri Ann and Miss Meryl

Sounds like a fun week in Seattle. It may be the start of things if everything is done right. Word will spread and hopefully soon , there will be a lot more going on in the years to come.
