I was looking through my insurance company's list of local primary care providers, and one of them has a traditionally female name, but her gender is shown as "Male" on their listing. On her practice's website, she uses feminine pronouns and in her picture, she definitely looks female, but has some features that are not as feminine.
I would really love to have an opportunity to work with a doctor who is trans, but this one is stealth if she is.
And there's a definite chance that some data entry worker simply clicked the wrong box when making the list.
Is it totally irrational for me to hope that she is a transwoman? And even if I did get to see her as my primary physician, would it be totally inappropriate to ask about trans issues?
At this point, I am afraid to even send her an email addressing the issue in case her emails are monitored by the clinic where she works. The last thing I would want would be to out anybody, even by accident.
Gah, this whole thread is probably stupid. I just had this glimmer of hope, seeing something incongruent that made it seem like I'd find a medical provider I can actually talk to.
