Voice Feminization: British vs. American

Okay, I have good and bad news about my voice. The good news is I can do a PERFECT female voice. The bad news is I can only do it with a British accent.

The problem with this is I was born and live in the US, and as far back as I know there are no British people in my family, so some random British accent would be a bit odd. My American version absolutely sucks LOL.

So, should I move to London or something, or...? Lol

There's no such thing as a British accent.  Accents change pretty much every 20 miles or so - meaning there are MANY different British accents just in England alone!

As an example, the area I'm from sounds nothing like the usual accent that Americans think of!

I have lived all over the UK and my British accent has changed so much over the years that the people I work with have no idea that I originally came from a far flung part of the UK with a very regionalised British accent unless I tell them (usually to much disbelief). When I return back to that part of the UK I have to try very hard to speak in my original accent, in order to not raise too many eyebrows.

Strangely enough, when I practise my fem voice I sometimes sound like an American valley girl with the inflections and change of pitch in the voice.

Lol, the other way around for me . I can pull off neutral, but very leaning towards female voice in my native language, but when switching to English, it gets too nasal for some reason. I also noticed that it is much easier to isolate "chest voice" than remove that nasal sounding...

If you can say "Aluminium" and "Nuclear" the way it is spelled, I would not worry. I would call it progress.

I can say "Nuclear", but I can't say "Aluminium" xD

I can relate, I can't do my female voice without putting on a Canadian accent but I love it and I think it's awesome. Don't worry what others think even if it's weird or different, just be you!
