I think it was due to a software upgrade of the site, which made the buddy list part incompatible with the rest or something. Well, that's my guess. I know next to nothing about how the technical aspects of a forum work.

So you better choose your buddy carefully since you can only have one.

It isn't broken, as such. It has just been deactivated because of an unwanted feature in it whereby the ignore list was tied in with the buddy list, overriding membergroups and allowing members to ignore Staff. This was felt to be something which should not be implemented, so the whole system has been turned off, pending changes to the software which address this feature.

Who shall I make my one buddy.... Very hard to decide. To list just a few of my favorite people on this site; Laura Squirrel, LordKAT, Pikachu... Hmm. Very hard.

As far as I know, no. I keep an eye on the software forums and from what I can make out, it's something that just is, at least for now. If I find out any differently, or something changes, I'll let you know.

Hmmm...never thought of that.

Yeah, that's why it was turned off. There was a possible workaround at one point, but the code dealing with it got changed with a more recent forum update, to the point where it wouldn't work because the whole thing was handled with entirely different coding in an effort to make it more efficient.
