I have a lot of my father's characteristics--hairline, cheekbones, ears, overall facial structure--and his body type. Not to mention his bushy eyebrows, although my barber likes to trim them to keep them from getting too unruly.

Before T, I already had all of these characteristics except the eyebrows and the hairline.

After five years on T, I think I look quite a lot more like my father, but I really just look like a male version of my former self.

I think that T will enhance those characteristics that you already share with your father, but if you don't look that much like him now, I wouldn't expect you to suddenly transform into him just because of the T! But I suppose the only way to be sure is to go on T. Is looking like your father a deal-breaker?

I have a few of my dads features, like his nose. I have a strong nose and as I've gotten older I've noticed lines on my face similar to his, but I mostly look like a male version of me. People said I looked just like him when I was younger, but that's stopped over the years

HRT might lean things more in the direction of looking like your dad, or you might end up looking more like a male relative on your mother's side. Or a combination of the two. Or you might just "look like you". My appearance is definitely changing but I don't see much resemblance to my relatives.

What is it about your dad's appearance you don't want? People do have some influence over factors like hair, body fat percentage, muscle mass, etc. If you can pinpoint what exactly you don't want to see in your own appearance, you can figure out if it's something you have any control over.

Or after some thought, you might find appearance isn't the real issue. I didn't want to end up looking like my father (the possibility wasn't enough to dissuade me from HRT, but would have sucked), but after some thinking found the real issue is what a jerk he was. I didn't want to look in the mirror and have a similar face bring back bad memories. And I don't want to be like him. Intellectually I know better, but subconsciously I feared looking more like him would make me be more like him. Reminding myself it doesn't work that way helps.

I don't think T will make a drastic change in which parent you take after as much as just plain genetics does. It may enhance some features but I can't see it really changing the things that stand out as belonging to one parent or the other.

LordKAT, do those stripes come from your mother's side or your father's? :D

I look a little tiny bit like my dad. I looked more like him before T actually. I'm one of those odd kids who doesn't look much like the family. I ended up with lighter hair and eyes than everyone else. I also ended up with the lighter skin of my English/Irish side instead of the darker skin of my lakota sioux side. In the area we live in people used to think that my sister was part Mexican, and that we had two different fathers. There is a picture from my sister's high school graduation with the four of us. I was being kind of funny so I flung my arms up in the air and made a goofy face. I look like some random jerk photobombing the pic. lol

I think that I must be an exception to this rule.

Pre-T, I looked nothing like my dad.  2+ years on T - I now look exactly like my dad.

My face shape changed re: fat redistributing - plus ageing.  Still, it's a little uncanny.

Supposedly every rule needs an exception to prove its true. At least the more abstract ones do.

I look like a mix between my old man and my mom, but since starting T I noticed I started looking more like my uncle on my moms side when he was younger, think it depends on the person, different for everyone

some people change a lot as they age. other people hardly change at all.
before and after male puberty puberty can be so different that you hardly recognize the person if you didn't see them while the changes happened. but it can also end up as a more mature looking version of the same person.
you won't know until it happens.
