Rant-Where are the state ID law lawsuits

I find this one of THE most infuriating things about transition: that each state has it's own laws about what it takes to get the gender marker changed on your DL/ID card. I mean seriously, does listing me as a "white male" help anyone identify me today? You can get a federal ID (passport) and social security will change your ID with a "completed transition" letter. I've been living as a woman for over 5 years and been on HRT for 3+ years. Everyone knows me as a woman, but the redneck backwards conservative state of GA insists on full SRS surgery. While in other states, a simple letter from a therapist is enough. Birth certificates vary drastically depending on the state you happened to be born in. A simple solution is to TELL the states, federal ID trumps any state ID requirement. If homeland security is OK with it, how can this be a danger in the state of Georgia, other than the bible thumping conservatives in power wanting to abuse LBGT citizens. What's extra comical is I actually run the office at a Presbyterian church and am a Christian myself, but get beat up by the book I believe in by these people.

The legal aide groups seem to be ignoring this fight and are focused on gay rights stuff. I know some inroads have been made, but I feel it's absurd I have to submit myself to unnecessary (for me) surgery to appease these ignorant bigots.
