I went to the Endo's office a few weeks ago to check out the place and I had a pretty good conversation with the head nurse there about my weight. I am technically too heavy for my height, but I have a stocky build that helps me pass. I was thinking of going on a diet, but the head nurse told me that I would look feminine if I did. I know she is right. So, I do have unwanted belly fat that I'd like to get rid of. The nurse told me to start building up my chest muscles before surgery but not lose weight and I do want to get rid of the belly fat. Any ideas/suggestions?

I'm 5 ft and 175lbs.

I'm pretty sure doing any kind of exercise will cause me to lose some weight, but I really just want to work on those two areas.

There's no way to lose weight from any specific area. Also, testosterone will likely transfer more fat onto your stomach from your thighs/hips. Do what you can (in terms of exercise), work on diet too.

I'm 5'3 and 185lbs, used to be 210.

"Too heavy for your height" as in they won't start you on T until you lose some body fat? Or as in it's something that needs to be monitored but they're starting you on T anyway? And, is this endo operating purely on weight/BMI, or are they taking body fat percentage into account?

My suggestion would be to start lifting weights. As Nygeel said, there's no way to do "spot reduction" (target fat loss from a specific region), although many marketing campaigns promise otherwise. If you want a bulkier build for masculine appearance, focusing on putting on muscle would be best. Much healthier.

Yea dude if you're just generally trying to get more fit if suggest sticking with basic free weights for a bit. Also walking at a brisk pace or biking for 20-30 min a day will do wonders for general weight loss and fitness. (I lost 50 pounds, mostly from my gut, butt and thighs).

My weight won't be a problem for starting T. She just told me to keep my weight but just work out the muscles.

Thanks for the input guys. Lucky for me I have a full gym in my house so I can work out as much as I want. For now I'll start eating better food and workout and do mild cardio. I want to get healthy and bulk up on muscle.

Wait, you've been advised not to lose weight by a medical professional? That's just wrong if they're starting you on T too. Being overweight puts you more at risk to similar things that T does, they're very against you being both here.

Yeah, kinda weird to be told not to lose weight, but again she was referencing the fact that my upper body is super stocky. If I was to lose too much weight I'd look like a girl. She is correct, I gained some weight because I wanted to be bulky uptop. Only problem is that I over did the weight gain. lol I'm making it my mission today to stock up on healthy foods. I don't want to become ill or be put at risk for high blood pressure, sugar problems (mine tends to drop but I'm not diabetic), heart problem, etc. I'm going to work out and get my body healthy. I'm pretty sure I have a few more months before I can get sent to the endo since I've only had 1 appt and my 2nd one is on monday.

When I went to the endo's office it was simply to check out the place. Meet the staff and make sure I would feel comfortable with them. Overall, I loved the staff and even got to meet the dr. This office was recommended by my therapist so I wanted to go visit in person. This office was going to be checking my blood work every 3 months for the 1st year.

I've called a few places and the people were rude and trying to lecture me about how going on t was life changing. Mind you, when I called I let them know that my therapist had told me to start looking for a dr to put me on t but the rep obviously wasn't paying attention. She just kept going on about how I needed a letter to make an appointment. I asked for pricing since I would be paying out of pocket and she told me to call back another day cause she didn't know and the lady that did know only works 2 days a week. I called back the day she told me to call back and the woman who knew about the prices was "too busy" to speak to me and so they took my number down and never called me back. This dr had two offices one 20 min from me and another 40 min from me. I gave up on them. I figured if they can't call me back to answer my questions then I couldn't trust them/depend on them enough to be calling in my sripts to the pharmacy. This office was only going to do blood work every 6 months the 1st year.

The third office was over 2 hours away, so I'm not even going to bother.

So, the first endo that I went to is my best choice.  10 min from my job and very professional.

if you want to lose some weight  really just start lifting and building muscle.

the added muscle will help you lose extra fat too but also make you look more masculine. I focus more on upper body workouts like chest and back and arms to help angle my body more masculine. but really focusing on big muscle groups like back or legs or chest will help you out a lot in terms of weight loss.
